Fontainebleau, a treasure trove of history, has embodied France’s royal epic since the Middle Ages. Its castle, whose origins date back to the 12th century, has been the scene of many significant events. In 1528, Francis I undertook extensive work, entrusting the interior decoration to artists such as Rosso Fiorentino and Le Primatice, giving birth to the Fontainebleau school, the true cradle of the French Renaissance.

In the 16th century, the château became the favorite residence of French sovereigns. Henri IV, before ascending to the throne, liked to come here to hunt in the magnificent forest of Fontainebleau. Napoleon I, seduced by its majestic allure, transformed the château into an imperial residence. He abdicated in Fontainebleau in 1814, bringing his reign to an end.

Today, the Château de Fontainebleau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, continues to fascinate visitors with its unique blend of architectural styles, magnificent French gardens and rooms that bear witness to the splendor of the French monarchy. The surrounding forest, long the hunting ground of kings, also offers visitors a natural escape steeped in history.

The Château de Versailles, a true 17th-century architectural masterpiece, embodies the grandeur of the French monarchy. Commissioned by Louis XIV in 1661, this imposing monument was designed to reflect the absolute power of the Sun King. The work, supervised by architects Louis Le Vau, Jules Hardouin-Mansart and gardener André Le Nôtre, transformed a former hunting lodge into a sumptuous palace.

The Galerie des Glaces, completed in 1684, is one of the most emblematic rooms in the château. Adorned with mirrors, chandeliers and luxurious decorations, it was the setting for the official ceremonies and diplomatic negotiations of the day. The Treaty of Versailles, ending the First World War, was signed in this gallery in 1919.

The gardens of Versailles, also designed by André Le Nôtre, cover more than 800 hectares. They represent a remarkable example of the French garden, with geometric parterres, monumental fountains and sculptures. Les Grandes Eaux, orchestrated water shows, perpetuate this aesthetic tradition.

The château has been the scene of many historic events, from court life to political intrigue. The French Revolution forced Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette to leave Versailles in 1789, marking the end of the royal era.

Today, the Château de Versailles remains one of the most visited tourist sites in the world, offering visitors a fascinating insight into the opulence and history of monarchic France.
